    Such A Pretty, Pretty Horse

It's true that in the events where actual performance was required, Reagan and Jamboree didn't fare as well as they would have liked.  Perhaps that is because, in her heart, Jamboree does not want to be an athlete.

She would rather be a Pageant Queen.

In the English Halter class, which is essentially a beauty pageant, she went up against ten other mares in her age group.  She liked the primping.

She got her toes polished.  Black is the hot hoof color amongst equine runway models right now.

She liked the bathing and tail brush out.

Then she strutted her stuff in the arena and struck a pose.

While she didn't win the class, she was gracious in accepting her purple ribbon - a top honor to be sure.

Then, like all true beauty queens, she went out for a meet and greet with her fans.  She is quite good with the public.

Never does she weary of signing autographs, accepting treats or offering photo ops with little ones who like to sit on her back.

Let other, less attractive horses to the tedious work of left canter circles and following patterns as instructed.  Those with boring dispositions may get through a rail class without spooking at the scary, scary tents because they don't have the sensitive soul she does.

Stopping on command is for those who must work for a living.

    Jamboree?

She's planning to get by on her good looks and charm.

What an amazing experience your kids will have to look back on! And how Jamby's flanks shone--like a mirror. I love the picture of the two of them together against the white background. You're doing such a good job being a mom at a hot sweaty fair. I'm afraid I'm a bit like Jamboree myself.

What a great posting - I think Jamboree is all right! And if Reagan is OK
with it, we all should be!

Jamboree and my Windy would get along just fine! She is all about the looks!

Congrats on the purple & for surviving today. It is stinkin' hot!

What a beautiful horse! We had horses when I was growing up and I think they are just so majestic. Reagan should be so proud of how healthy her horse is - which, no doubt, comes from being taken such good care of!

Ah Mindee, what a beautiful horse and so glad your sweet nature is back to the forefront. Horse shows and fairs are hot, sticky, nasty work but isn't it wonderful to have some happy moments too. Glad that things went well with Jamboree, Reagan and, of course, Mom Mindee.

    Biggest Hugs,

Dear Jamboree, please instruct my poodle in beauty, cleanliness and charm.
    Sincerely, Miriam

Either Reagan is much taller than I imagined her being or Jamboree is a rather tiny mare. Congratulations on the purple ribbon. She's quite lovely.

Reagan is just under 5' 10" and Jamboree is between 15 and 16 hands. So, a tall girl and a medium sized mare. :)

That Jamboree sounds like she's got a fun personality for a horse that is.

Does she bite you on the butt if you put a large person on her back? That's what happened to Tyler when he put a rather plump child on the back of a zoo pony. Funny stuff!

i don't know all the horsey words to use, but that jamboree is so shiny and pretty! she definitely needs a sash to go with her pageanty charm. we never came to the fair despite your urging. next year. or some year when it's 75 degrees.

Reagan is almost 5'10! How tall are you? I am 5'10, McKenna is getting there. When I was growing up, finding tall clothes was such a problem. I'm so glad they carry varied sizes now. If you need good shoe places, let me know. Or did she get lucky and keep smaller feet?

She is gorgeous, Min (both the horse and the girl, actually!) She's a quarter horse, right? I'm trying to remember my horses, but it's been a while.

    August 8, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKaren

Technically, she is a breed stock Paint horse (which means a Paint without spots) but yes, a Quarter Horse is close enough.

AW - well, she's already won my heart, so clearly the rest of American can't be far behind.

    Now I want a horse.

    Or a unicorn.

I mean, if I'm already wishing for stuff.
