What's That?
Friday, July 30, 2010 at 9:20AM You mean that space to the right there?
Well.
It's an ad.
I know! I'm sorry. It seems every where you go in life there are advertisements and this used to be an ad-free haven.
Alas, no more.
I have sold out.
It's just that . . . truth be told, I'm kind of a fan of money. It's so darned handy in so many situations.
- At the grocery store.
- When I'm paying bills,
- Shopping for jeans (again) for my continuously growing children . . . there are just so many times when I use money. I'm kind of hoping that little ad there might bring in a tiny bit more of it.
We'll see how it goes.
For the next few days I (by which I mean Rich - that man is amazing with this tecchie stuff!) will be playing with the layout trying to incorporate the ads in a way that pleases both Blogher and me. Expect layout schizophrenia.
In other news: I go back to work two weeks from today. While it's true that I don't love working, I'm finding that I'm looking forward to having a schedule again. I'm not really the self-motivating, self-disciplined type. A schedule brings structure and motivation.
And less time.
And more frustration.
But also a paycheck! And as we just discussed, money is a good thing.
Sigh.
Doesn't being a grown up kind of suck sometimes?

Wow, Mindee. You know...just when I think it's potentially possible that we are long-lost sisters, you go and say something like..."I like money." And then...I KNOW we have to be long-lost sisters! I like money, too! A lot! Wow, this thing between us is just getting weirder, and weirder.
Congrats on going back to work...and congrats on having a techie hubbie who knows how to do website stuff! Good luck with the ads...hope you make oodles of cash. :)

I am jealous of you getting several weeks off of work. But I think that sometimes it's harder to go back after a long break rather than just plowing through the entire year.
Look at the BIg Girl blogger!!!! Congrats on the step. I personally do not find the ads annoying, so anything that potentially brings you something you like makes me happy.
The boys go back to school in 3 weeks and I am looking forward to it...mostly.
I agree. Sometimes being a grown up sucks.
Working, earning money, paying a mortgage...
You do such a great job with this blog that I think you deserve some rewards for it.
And poodle haircuts are not cheap either.
It's ok, I won't judge you. Instead I'll just be jealous that you have a blog with enough activity that you can have BlogHer ads.
I like the new layout! It is still clean and organized.
When we are little we want to be big but now that we are big we want to slow it down ... just doesn't make sense!
The ads don't bother me at all. I might even put them up one day... once I figure out how to get a self hosted wordpress blog all set up. Someday.

I could do without money.
You are weird.
I like it, too! Good job, Rich! Also, I find it funny that you 'like' money and married a man named Rich!
Something's wrong. I don't see any ads. It's great to get money for something you love , though, isn't it?
ADS!? Mindee.... I can't believe you'd do this to us.
Just kidding. I think they look great. And I'm still jealous. Tell me all your blogging secrets because I'd really like to know! (Although for now, I guess I can be happy that I had a few people email me back about guest posting while we're away. Internet people are the best type).
Yeah for the big step! I'll be reconfiguring mine shortly..like when I have time which means probably not for another month when the kids go back to school. Ha! Just read those Blogher ad rules carefully...I ended up being accepted but never put their ads up because of all the rules. But some people really do well with them.
It totally sucks sometimes. Grown-up-hood, that is. *sigh*
I thought about ads in the past, but then decided against it. There are too many blogs out there which are completely saturated with ads which are distracting. If a blog has too many ads, I usually unsubscribe.
Yours, however, are not flashy and distracting.
Tastefully done, my friend...
Money is good, ads don't bother me. I just had to discuss with my mom how good money is when she said to me "I just wish you'd quit your job", well mom, there's this lifestyle I am used to and we would have to DRASTICALLY change it if I were to quit. Heck, I'll probably even go back full time when I don't have kids at home all the time. What can I say, being grown up does kind of suck sometimes. Oh-well :o)
FRICK!
I hate when my friends are cooler than me.
I mean, you'd think I'd pick more loser-y friends.
But no.
Haven't quite learned that lesson.
