    School's Out For SUMMER

Good news:  Today is the last day of school!

Bad news:  I have Alice Cooper stuck in my head!

Sooooooo many songs about summer to choose from, and I've got this guy stomping through my brain.

    Lovely.

What are your favorite songs about summer?

    Please tell me.

    Hopefully something will stick.

    Please.

For some reason I enjoy the Rascal Flatts song... I can't think of what its called "Let that igloo cooler mark your piece of paradise!!"

Ahh now I have that stuck in my head too and I can't think of a song to replace it. I cheated...how's this? http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,293609,00.html

Oh wait. Alice Cooper is third.

    Nevermind then.

It's summer time, summer time, sum, sum, summer time . . .
    Maybe?
    Hmm . . . I will ponder this.
Look at me leaving comments! WooHoo!

School is already out in your part of the world? Did they just keep me in school longer when I was a kid to torture me?

Summer song? Summer Nights from Grease!

    Sublime

    "Summertime, and the livin's easy . . ."

And lots of lyrics that I can't say in front of my kids.

Hmm... I have to go with the Grease thing - now I can't get Summer Nights out of MY head!

Mindee don't feel bad - this is the song I get stuck in my head when school gets out every year, you are not alone.

How about Beach Boys Surfin Safari I think that's a summer song if you live in Nebraska and it's only warm in the summer and beach vacations.

    June 3, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterJesy

    Yeah, anything Beach Boys, right?
Will Smith "Summertime" gets in my head.
But the one you started out with is pretty classic, so it will surely be a force to be reckoned with. :)

The entire purpose of this post is to have that song stuck in everybody's head, isn't it?

    Isn't it?

Well, you won't take me down, people talking about Mrs. Robinson on Twitter already got that one stuck in my head, so you're too late, do you hear me?

School's out for summ.... drat it!

First of all summer songs are the best. Let the top down, and crank up the tunes. :)

My top summer songs are probably songs that aren't as well known, but you should look them up!!

"The Underdog" by Spoon - Such a fun/happy/upbeat song, great for summer.
"On Melancholy Hill" by the Gorillaz - Best song this year, love it.

And my favorite classics are probably...
    "Groovin" - The Rascals
    "California Dreaming" - Mama's and The Papa's
"Two Tickets to Paradise" - Eddie Money
"Paradise by the Dashboard Light" - Meatloaf - Love this song

I could go on for days :)

well down here in the south "hotter than hell" by kiss would seem appropriate...=o)

The first thing that popped into my head was War's "Summertime is Here." There's a line about "eight track's playin' all your favorite sounds..." that brings back memories of my youth in the 70s (http://www.metrolyrics.com/summer-lyrics-war.html).

    There's also Mungo Jerry's "Summertime." That's a classic.

check out "summer breeze" by jason mraz. about a bajillion times better than the original (except that for a second in the very beginning, it's a tad bit strange). and "summertime" done by bon jovi.

loved having you today. excited to do summer with you!

addendum to previous comment...it is more than one second of weirdness in the beginning of mraz's song. it's like this screetchy howling that you wish would stop but continues for more like 3 seconds. but when the song gets going, it is cool. and even screechy howling is better than alice cooper.

I don't think she mentions summer in the song, but my FAVORITE is "how could i ask for more" by Cindy Morgan. Do you know it? I think it's from the early 90s? It makes me all nostalgic & stuff for my childhood.

Two that popped in my head...

Beach Baby: "Beach Baby, Beach Baby there on the sand from July to the end of September..."

Seasons in the Sun: "We had joy we had fun we had seasons in the sun...."

I am pretty sure both of these were one hit wonders in the '70's.

"in the summertime when the weather is hot" - those are all the lyrics i know from that song, but i can hum a mean tune.

My summer theme song is totally "Summertime" by Kid Rock. It's a catchy little tune that makes me want to be out on a boat drinking a beer. And since it's Kid Rock I crave some kind of trashy kind like Coors Light.
    Ahhh...bring on the summer! :)
