Train Wreck

Oh y'all.  Last night was bad.  So, so bad.

I planned my Super Bowl menu so carefully.  I made a big pot of chili.  Chili has no flour, no sugar and is darned good for you.  I put veggies out with the dip.  I picked desserts that I don't really care about:  Rice Krispy treats and root beer floats.

And then I completely derailed.

It started with a hot dog.  I made the  hot dogs for the kids and for adults who wanted a chili dog.

This was a mistake, because I love hot dogs.  Love them.  Also, I had been thinking about this recipe from Jenna all week.  And I had the Ro-Tel queso dip.  So here is what I did:

I placed hot dog buns on a plate.  I put two hot dogs on them.  I covered them in chili.  I put a healthy layer of queso over that.  Then I liberally sprinkled Fritos over the whole mess.

It was so, so good.

And then I figured, "Well I've blown it, might as well enjoy myself."  So I nibbled on the Krispy treats I thought I didn't care about.  And I tried an Oatmeal Scotchie my guests had brought.  Because it was the polite thing to do.  And then I had a gigantic root beer float.

By half time I was lying on the floor moaning.  At the end of the game I did the dishes and threw out the sad, dried vegetables I had set out with such good intentions.

There was no question about which jeans to put on today.

How do you spell regret?

B-L-O-A-T-E-D

But today is a new day.  I had a smoothie for breakfast.  I'm drinking lots of water.  I packed a sliced apple for my snack.  I will go 12 miles on the bike all week instead of my usual 10.

I'm putting the train back on the tracks.

At least until Valentine's Day. :)

That's all you can do. Begin again... and again... and again...

All will be well. But, really Mindee? Fritos? On top of hot dogs smothered in cheese and chili? It's no wonder you ended up on the floor! :)

It's ok, you're not alone! I've been derailed since November when my son got sick. My priorities are off right now, but very slowly I'll get myself back on the tracks!!!!

Oh, I did the same thing yesterday. I have been good all week. And I think I ate 4 chocolate chip cookies yesterday. OH, well. :)

mmmm, hot dogs. so bad for you and who knows what kind of crap is in them, but oh so delicious!

Well, you've definitely done better than I have in the last four years eating wise. And exercise wise too. I say focus on the positive (although I am sure that is hard with the b-l-o-a-t-i-n-g).

Hee hee, you had a rootbeer bloat.

I think everyone feels that way after the superbowl. Hell we went to a b-day party on saturday, and I ate a hamburger (with bun) and all the fixings, chips and queso, and get this cake and Ice cream!!!! Afterwards I felt horrible and got a really bad headache, I called it a sugar high.

Though those bandito dogs are amazingly good, and oh so very badddddddddddddddddd!!!!!!!!!

I sat in front of the 7 layer guacomale dip. I had all 7 layers 7 times. And 3 bacardi raz's. And this really good frito stuff with peanut butter. I was bad, bad, bad.

One day...that's all!! Hey, while I have managed to keep away from the sodas (even the Dr. Peppers in my kitchen!!!), I did finish Christian's birthday cake, single-handedly, almost. So. I have a ways to go. Baby steps.
I agree-hilarious picture.

Don't worry... It was only one day! Today, as you said, is a new day, and you'll be good and drink lots of water...
Besides, you're not alone... :)

That is hilarious! Don't worry, though, one evening doesn't break a diet.

I'm pretty sure you, me and the rest of America are in the same boat, Mindee. Except I've been bloated for about 15 years. I should really do something about that. =)

I was derailed this weekend too! My sister's baby shower followed up with the Superbowl...not a good weekend! I'm right there with you!!

Oh My! I love it! You never stop making me laugh. I honestly don't think one day of eating something that tastes good is going to hurt you. Sometimes you just have to! I am proud of you-for enjoying yourself, and then for getting back on the wagon the next day. :)
