    It's Good To Have Goals

I was talking with a co-worker the other day who is 7 1/2 months pregnant.  While we were chatting, she was scarfing down a sandwich and fries from McDonalds.

    It smelled good.

She was going on and on about how all she wants to eat anymore is junk food.  She told me about all the ice cream in her freezer.  She has to have different flavors on hand because she never knows what mood she'll be in.

    I miss pregnant eating.

Then she started complaining about how much weight she's gained and told me the number on her scale that morning.

That number is 10 pounds less than my current weight.

Okay, granted that she is 7 inches shorter than I am.  And of course she is petite whereas I have a medium frame.  But c'mon - SHE IS 7 1/2 MONTHS PREGNANT.

    I am 9 1/2 years post-partum.

She is eating McDonald's and ice cream.  I am eating fruit and veggies and lean meat.  Her main exercise is scooping ice cream.  I am riding my frickin' exercise bike and doing crunches.

But I am getting there.  And in April, about a week befor she is due I'm going to ask her her weight again.  My new goal?

To weigh at least a pound less than a full term pregnant woman!

The good news: she is pregnant and you have already had your baby, which means she'll have to go through labor (which I've heard is scary) while you're already working on shredding the baby weight! And you're eating healthy, so you'll get there a lot faster, and McDonalds fries are made by someone you don't know - which is gross, and ice cream is too cold and it gets freezer burn (yes. I did just try to diss on fast food to make you feel better. Did it help?)

Stick to your goals, you can totally do this!!!

Ah, the days of eating with total unabandon...I miss it too. I've contemplated getting pregnant again just so I'd have an excuse to wear panel pants. But then I remembered everything that comes *with* the baby and decided if I wear super long shirts I could wear the panel pants anyway.
Stick to your goals, Mindee! That burger and fries just ain't worth it. Well, not TOTALLY worth it. Okay, it's worth it for like the 10 minutes it takes to eat it. Then...it's totally NOT worth it. =)

Sighhhhhhhh, I do not really think of myself as a over weight person but I weigh more now then I did 9 months pregnant with my first two children. Maybe it's because I go to Mc dees and have ice cream in my freezer! Curse you belly fat!

I am sure you will reach that goal!! Some days I can't wait until I am pregnant just so I can eat everything under the sun and not justify it. I know that is not the proper mindset. :)

Haha, I think that's a good goal. If she's eating lots of junk food now she's on track for beating. Mind you thinking of feeding McDonalds to an unborn baby makes me hope the kid is being fed right. Ice cream I approve of though!

When I was pregnant with my last baby I shared an office with an older woman. She finally stopped eating "with" me around my 8th month when the realization came forth that she wasn't going to be giving birth to anything to drop a load of weight. It was indeed a sad time for her as we had been merrily eating our way through my pregnancy and a sad day for me as well as it reminded me I had to yet again push out another human out of my body.

LOL! I guess it's good to have goals. No matter what your weight is at least you won't be feeling swollen and uncomfortable like a 9 month pregnant woman does. I don't care how much you love pregnancy there is a point in month 9 that any person would say "enough".

    Think of this . . .
Maybe she'll be like me and end up having an MSPI baby which means that all that beautiful ice cream will be off the menu, not to mention McD's fries (hellooooo, they put a milk derivitive in their FRIES) , McD's buns, McD's chicken nuggets, ranch dressing and dipping sauce . . .well you get the point.

And if she is unlucky enough to have an MSPI baby? You can taunt her through the next pregnancy about the diet because they recommend you start it in the last trimester to help ease the baby into it.

Sometime over the last two-four years I got on a terrible food eating kick! My kids when they were little ate so well. Now we are all junk food junkies. Grrr. Once you start down the path, it's so hard to turn back around! Good for you for setting a goal, though. You'll make it! I bet you'll do better.

Oh, I just had a similar moment! I was talking to a pregnant woman about my fear of running a 10 mile race on May 2. She is due May 1. She lamented that she runs the race every year, and hopes that the baby arrives a "couple weeks" early (like her previous children) so she could still run it. I can't even imagine!

Hilarious! I miss pregnant eating, too. I don't miss pregnancy weight, though! :)

I wish I could eat like I was pregnant too! But, continue to strive to weigh less than I currently due. I admire your goal and hope you get there! Good Luck! I'm 4 pounds from mine!

Just keep in mind how much more sleep you will get than she will with a newborn! Doesn't that make you feel better?

normally i'm not a huge fan of the "like" facebook button. i feel it lacks personality. but sometimes in a comment, i just want to write, "ha!" or "that's funny!" and in these situations the like button would do nicely.

    so, "like."
