    Thirties Thursday

. . . Things I Have Learned In The Past Decade.

*Never buy the floor model of a discontinued appliance no matter how much the price has been reduced.*

After six months without a dishwasher, we purchased an LG at Home Depot in December. Rich installed it on December 23rd. It was a thing of beauty. It had three racks, a stainless illuminated interior and a running cycle so quiet you had to check and make sure it was working. All of this for an excellent price. It worked beautifully for about three weeks.

Since January we have had the motor replaced twice, and the main computer replaced once by a mouth breathing repairman that LG sent out. It doesn’t get the dishes all that clean and now leaks water every time I run it so there are constantly two rolled up beach towels shoved underneath. This time LG sent out a certified technician who has recommended replacement. Three weeks ago we faxed our receipt to headquarters and awaited their decision. Last week we re-faxed the receipt and are re-waiting their decision.

If they do approve a replacement, they will only credit us the purchase price, not the original value of the machine. This means that we won’t be able to get a dishwasher nearly as nice as this one was supposed to be.

    Grrrrrrr.
