    Paula Deen's Baked Beans

I don’t love baked beans, but if I have to eat them this is the recipe I use because people who do love baked beans seem to especially enjoy these. That’s because Paula Deen is fabulous. She does however, create pornography. Food pornography. Seriously. Take a look at this recipe for Gorilla Bread. How you could pack more sin into one recipe, I do not know. It’s delicious, by the way. ;)

But I digress. Here are the beans:

    1 lare onion, diced
2 (16 ounce) cans pork and beans
    3 Tbsp prepared yellow mustard
    1/4 cup maple syrup
    1/4 cup packed brown sugar
    4 Tbsp ketchup
    1 Tbsp lemon juice
1/2 pound bacon, cut into 1/2 inch pieces (I like to cook it a bit first)

In a large, oven proof baking dish, mix everything together, reserving half of the bacon.

Now here is where Paula and I part ways which might not be so smart of me being that she is the one with her own cooking show and all. At this point, she tells you to put the rest of the bacon on top and bake, uncovered at 350 for 45-60 minutes. I like to cover it and bake it at 225 degrees for a few hours. During the last half hour, I put the remaining bacon on top and bake it uncovered at 350.
